Welcome to FlipSide, a celebration of Brazilian writing and music. Join us at glorious
Snape Maltings in Suffolk, where Brazilian writers and musicians will, together with
their UK counterparts, demonstrate the vitality and richness of Brazilian cultural life.
Their encounters will offer plenty of evidence that in Brazil, the relationship between
music and the written word is uncommonly close. It is a country where distinctions are
blurred: where poets write lyrics for popular songs and musicians are known to write the
occasional literary novel, where to be called a poet is to be offered the warmest
endearment, and where football inspires great films, novels and music.
